Meeting National at AvordThe Meeting National at BA Avord was held on Sunday 13th of July, just 1 day before the national holiday on the 14th of July. On Saturday 12th, spotters, media and aviation enthusiasts were able to visit the base for the show rehearsals, while on Sunday a large crowd visited the airbase. 1 static area on the south side of the base and a combined area with static and flying aircraft were prepared to show the aircraft on the base. The static show demonstrated a number of large aircraft (like the E-3F and the C-130), jet aircraft (like the F-16, A-4S, Mirage, Tornado, Rafale) and ‘oldtimers’ (Flamand, Broussard, Morane Saulnier 406) The whole day the airshow kept the audience busy. The French Air Force showed many aircraft, like the Alpha Jet, the Mirage 2000, and the C-135F. Local E-3F's and Xingu's flew multiple missions during the day. Many ‘oldtimers’ were flying at the show, like the Dassault Flamand, the MS Fouga Magister ,the DC3, the OV-10 Bronco.Genuine shows were performed by the Patrouille de France (existing 55 years in 2008) and Team Iskra from Poland. Single aircraft shows were flown by Spanish and Swiss F/A-18, Belgium F-16, Mirage 2000 and AlphaJet. Most important visitor was the B-1B for 3 passes overhead the show. The aircraft flew from RAF Fairford (UK) where it was based during the International Air Tattoo. During the afternoon a huge rainshower stopped the airshow for a while. After the shower the air was very humid, displaying some nice contrails and vortex clouds when the F/A-18 and B-1 passed at Mach 0.99
